Nov 30, 2010 Digital Watch Week Watch #2 Vintage 1970's Seiko A134-5000T

Today's watch is this vintage Seiko Digital. This is the first watch that I can remember my father ever wearing.
I believe the watch dates to 1978. The watch measures about 35mm across and features day/date and alarm and hourly beep. Amazingly, this 30+ year old digital still functions as it should and keeps good time. Other than the smallish size compared to modern watches,it still looks fantastic and is an execelent dressy digital watch. I enjoy wearing it!

Nov 4, 2010 Black Leather Strap Week Watch #3 Seiko Yacht Timer 8M37-7000

Watch # 4 is my beloved Seiko Yacht Timer. My grandfather bought me this watch as a High School graduation gift in 1991. I was visiting my grandparents in Japan and he called Seiko had had a representative come to the house with the Seiko master catalog. I looked at watches for hours before I picked this one. I picked this watch because I love sailing and at the time I was racing my Sunfish in the HYC summer youth program. I also wear this watch on its original gold and SS steel bracelet and a blue and red striped regimental NATO. Right now the watch is enjoying the black leather strap.

This watch uses the 8M movement. The 8M was produced from the late 80's to the early 90's and is known for the hour and minuite hands preforming various functions. A countdown timer and stopwatch in my watch.

Seiko was founded in Tokyo in 1881. All Seiko wristwatches are produced entirely in-house including the oils and lume ccompounds.

Seiko makes great watches!
